If you own a website then it’s likely that you’ve already heard of SEO (search engine optimisation) and you might even be looking into how it benefits you.
SEO is all about getting your website seen by who you want it to be seen by - your target consumers. Below we have put together a few tips to help you on your SEO journey!
Do keyword research
Keyword research is one of the most important factors in SEO. If you can find out what your consumers are searching for, then you can make it easier for them to find you. You can conduct keyword research in various ways; it can be as simple as making a Google search and scrolling down to look at the ‘related searches’, but there are also a variety of free websites such as Ubersuggest and Answer The Public which can help you conduct research and some paid ones that offer many extra features, like SEMrush.
When you have made a list of keywords and phrases, you can then begin to construct content around them. Maybe your consumers are searching for a specific service you’re offering, so you should make sure you have a page dedicated to it on your website. If it’s something more topical, then a blog could be just the right thing to create!
When you are creating content, it’s a good idea to link to other websites with relevant content. Link building is a pivotal part of SEO, and it can show how credible your website is - which Google loves. Linking content that is helpful to your consumer will also create a better user experience, meaning they are more likely to return.
Make your website responsive
Have you ever clicked on a website, been frustrated because it loads to slowly and clicked off to find another one? This could be what your consumers are doing to you! Avoid using large, high-quality images, graphics and videos which could cause your website to load slowly.
